PROSE Meeting Point 2017 in Romanshorn
PROSE invited its customers to this year‘s customer day, the PROSE Meeting Point 2017, at Locorama, the Swiss railway museum in Romanshorn. The main subject was modernisation of old vehicles versus procurement of new vehicles. We were pleased to welcome many customers and very happy about the intensive, direct exchange of experiences.
Beside the interesting discussions with our customers, the main focus was on the lectures on modernisation of old vehicles versus procurement of new ones. In lecture block 1 the speakers discussed the fundamental pros and contras, which were exemplified by two field reports. We welcomed three guest speakers. Felix Friedli, head of the contact line construction department of Furrer + Frey AG, represented the customer perspective, and Georg Selzer, Area Sales Manager, Plasser & Theurer, the manufacturer perspective. They discussed the subject on the basis of Furrer + Frey’s procurement of a new overhead contact line installation and renewal vehicle of the type MTW 100, which is manufactured by Plasser & Theurer. Stefan Vögeli, Project Manager, SBB, assisted us by the lecture about the modernisation of the IC2000 fleet of the SBB.
• Lecture block 1 (in German only)
After a coffee break lecture block 2 began. It was divided into the following two sub-blocks:
• Block 2A – Efficient identification of the requirements for changes and development of an effective homologation strategy (in German only)
• Block 2B – Adaptation of new and existing vehicles (in German only)
In addition to the lectures it was possible to inspect the motor tower car of the type MTW 100 manufactured by Furrer + Frey AG. Moreover, our Swedish PROSE team presented PRO(doc), our XML-based documentation solution for rolling stock and its maintenance, and our Italian PROSE team presented VisualCSV, our one-stop-shop solution for the analysis of the operation of trains via Google Maps.
This year PROSE’s customer day ended with a cosy get-together barbecue.
We once again thank all participants, the guest speakers and - not least - the entire Locorama team for a very successful PROSE Meeting Point 2017, which we shall be happy to recall in future!
