Turn-Key Engineering for air snow blower on funicular railway
In December 2017, the world's steepest funicular railway from the Muotatal to Stoos was opened in Switzerland. The operator commissioned ZAUGG AG EGGIWIL to build an air blower system for this funicular in order to clear the rails of snow and foliage during the winter season. At the beginning of February 2019 PROSE was selected by ZAUGG AG EGGIWIL to take over the mechanical engineering and to carry out the necessary calculations.
The air blower system is mounted on a base frame which fits onto the goods platform of the Stoos-railway and can be dismantled. The air blower system will be operated from its own cabin. The energy for the fan and the hydraulic control of the nozzles is generated by a diesel engine.
Production at ZAUGG AG EGGIWIL started in July 2019 based on PROSE's technical documentation. The first tests and the approval were successful in November 2019, so the air snow blower is ready for operation during the coming winter season.
Further technical information regarding the funicular railway can be found here.
