Feasibility study hybridization LINT 41 for the diesel network in Saxony-Anhalt

Customer: Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI), Germany

Customer benefit

  • With the feasibility study, the BMVI and the Nahverkehrsservice Sachsen-Anhalt GmbH (NASA) have a basis for deciding which concept for reducing the CO2 emissions of the DISA fleet should be pursued further
  • Based on this, the different CO2 saving potentials of the individual variants can be evaluated regarding the expected costs and technical risks
  • The study identifies as a clear favorite solution the conversion to a trimodal vehicle (catenary-battery-diesel) which reduces diesel emissions in the DISA by 67% and, with accompanying infrastructure measures, enables CO2-free operation.

Project tasks

  • Development of various concepts for the conversion of the existing LINT 41 fleet in the diesel network of Saxony-Anhalt to (partially) electric operation
  • Review and evaluation of the concepts with regards to feasibility, CO2 reduction potential and changes in life cycle costs.
